Making Comparisons & How do you like

I learned about 'Making comparisons' and 'How do you like'.

Making Comparisons is about comparing two things.
They are 'as ~ as', 'similar to', 'like', 'alike', and 'nothing like'.
Some are what I already knew. The others are not.

• as ______ as
• This tomato is as big as this plum.
• (= They're about the same size.)
• similar to / like
• A nectarine is similar to a plum.
• A Stratocaster is like a Telecaster.
• alike (very similar but not the same)
• These two screwdrivers are alike.
• nothing like (very very different)
• A screwdriver is nothing like a plum.

Little / Few

학교 다닐 때 배운 걸로 대충 이해는 하고 있었지만 뭔가 찜찜했던 부분. 오늘 긁었다.

a little / little : describing amounts for noncount nouns (셀 수 없는 명사의 양을 표현)
a little : some ~ (약간)
little : no extra ~ (거의 없는)

We have a little food in the fridge. 냉장고에 먹을 게 좀 있다.
= We have some food.
We have little food in the fridge. 냉장고에 먹을 게 거의 없다.
= There isn't very much food.

He has very little information. 그는 정보가 거의 없다.
There was very little traffic this morning. 오늘 아침 도로는 차가 거의 없었다.
I have very little interest in doing that. 나 그 일 하는 거 관심 전혀 없어.

The Many Uses of 'WILL'

* 미래의 계획을 얘기할 때 be going to / be ~ing 라고 쓰고, will 쓰지 않는다.

I'm visiting my grandma. (O)

I will visit my grandma. (X)

1. state intentions : 의지 표현
• I will probably/maybe/likely/definitely be at the show.
2. confirm plans + orders of events : 일정/순서 확인
• Okay, so first I'll call you and then we'll meet at the theatre.
3. decisions made in the moment : 결정
• I'll take the blue ones.
4. predictions : 예측
• There is no way he'll finish on time!
5. promises : 약속
• I will never disappoint you!
6. confirm future time or place : 미래의 시간/약속 확인
• I'll be there at 8.
7. Goodbyes : 작별인사
• I'll see you later!

Future Progressive (미래 진행형)

• Planned Action
• Action that will happen
• time marker 꼭 있어야! (시간을 나타내는 부사절이 없으면 틀림)

평서문 : 주어 + will(won't) + be + 동사+ing

• I will be eating lunch at 12.
• At this time tomorrow, we will be sitting on a beach!
• They will be going to Italy this year.
• He will be sleeping by the time you get home.

의문문 : Will(Won't) + 주어 + be + 동사ing ?   (질문할 때는 심플하게 긍정으로만!)

• Will they be coming at 6 tomorrow?
• Will Tommy M. be emailing Ronnie in the future?
