The Candle Gift

I bought my wife the sweet soy candles.
It was the first time I've ordered on a shopping mall. And I wrote my words celebrating our anniversary and showing my gratefulness. The candles smelt so sweet and cool. My wife looked happy and I was happier. Thanks, the candle couple, and the letter!

샤부샤부

Today I ate out for dinner(actually between lunch and dinner time) with my wife.
We enjoyed the Shabu-shabu at the local restaurant.
It's been such a long time since we last taste the meat.
So the thinly sliced meat was very very good!
After the meal, I decided to eat the meat again after a long time.

My wife and I put the rice too much today and we were very full. lol
I love curry rice.
Do you like it? Then, come to my place. I'll cook for you. ^.^

I love basketball

As I mentioned yesterday, I worked out today for the first time in ages.
It's always a lot of fun for me to play basketball.
Ok, here are some proof pictures haha.
I have a great posture when shooting. Yeah~
I was rushing to the rim like an athlete.
And then, I had a fantastic meal. I deserved it!

Project : Losing My Potbelly

I've gained a lot of weight for a couple of years.
Suddenly I feel worried about my health problem.
I love sports and I used to play basketball.
But I've been getting lazy for many years.
I don't really want to let myself go anymore.
So I'll start working out from tomorrow!
I'll be back soon with a proof picture.

치맥

One of the most popular foods in Korea, ChiMac(I don't know whether it's correct. whatever), is the crazy combination of chicken(치킨) and beer(맥주).
Today I enjoyed the ChiMac while watching the movie 'The Imitation Game'. It was cool. haha.
Even though I don't love alcohol that much, I sometimes drink some canned beer when eating chicken. I swear I'm not an alcoholic. seriously. :)
If you come to Korea some day, you'll have to taste the Korean chicken and beer if you'd like.
I'll bet you might be shocked if you experience the Korean delivery system. You can order almost everything you want to eat at night. I'll miss that most if I'm not here Korea someday.

Writing Practice

I've been used to writing something on my laptop for a long time. However, these days I'm in love with handwriting. It helps me remember words, expressions, and grammar things. At first I tried to write good. But soon I realized they were just the distractions. Now I feel comfortable writing down my thoughts. The thing is I have to get used to the proper grammar and the American English. Let's get the ball rolling!

Making Comparisons & How do you like

I learned about 'Making comparisons' and 'How do you like'.

Making Comparisons is about comparing two things.
They are 'as ~ as', 'similar to', 'like', 'alike', and 'nothing like'.
Some are what I already knew. The others are not.

  • as ______ as
    • This tomato is as big as this plum.
    • (= They're about the same size.)
  • similar to / like
    • A nectarine is similar to a plum.
    • A Stratocaster is like a Telecaster.
  • alike (very similar but not the same)
    • These two screwdrivers are alike.
  • nothing like (very very different)
    • A screwdriver is nothing like a plum.

My wife and I enjoyed this special kimchi-jeon. It was made of kimchi and pork. It was really good for a light meal. We ate 3 plates of kimchi-jeon that night.
I'll be missing this kind of food when I'm out of Korea. Maybe we can make some kimchi-jeon if we can get a good kimchi there. Hopefully!

Korean Baby's 1st Birthday Party

Korean baby's first birthday is called 돌.
It is very happy party for the family members and friends.
Today I went to my wife's nephew's 돌 party (generally 돌잔치).
Sometimes it might be a big party and everyone who knows her/his parents is invited.
On the other hand, it might be just a small but special party for only their family members.
Today's party was the latter. There were 14 members attended except a baby host.
The baby was so adorable. Especially because he was wearing a Hanbok for the party.
I love it when kids are in Hanbok.
I took many pictures of him.
I'll show you one of the best cuts today!

The Circumstance of Studying

Recently I have a lot of time to study.
Because I'm out of work now. haha.
So I decided to make some goal and I've been trying to achieve that goal.
I think my worst part is to speak out loud.
I need to repeat a lot to imitate a specific conversation. It's so hard to follow it. Will this practice be helpful for me though? I don' care anymore. I'll just do it. I've been spending so much time to check up. Actually I don't have time that much before going abroad. From now on I'm just going to do the practice that I planned. I need to be familiar with English expressions. Yeah I believe I can do it. Please don't be lazy. That's it.

The way I'm studying these days

These days I'm really serious about learning English.
Today I'm going to show you how I'm studying these days.
I'm mainly using the internet as a material of practicing.
Of course I also like to listen to the pattern expressions through mp3.
And I began to read the English novel. It's very challenging for me.

I watch the free English video lessons as a listening practice.
It's useful for the grammar, expressions, speaking as well.

I record my sounds repeating after the conversations on Soundcloud.
This is my speaking practice.

I (re)started keeping a journal on this blog as a writing practice.
I'm sure it's most important to use it and practice every day.
I'll do my best not to skip as possible as I can.

I visit the reading room every day.
I also like to read a lot of things in English on the internet.
I really love this website, Learn American English Online.
It has a lot of educational materials.
I like the teacher Paul's voice and his video lessons.

I love studying English.

A checklist for the Blue level

Thank you, teacher Paul
