Making Comparisons is about comparing two things.
They are 'as ~ as', 'similar to', 'like', 'alike', and 'nothing like'.
Some are what I already knew. The others are not.
- as ______ as
- This tomato is as big as this plum.
- (= They're about the same size.)
- similar to / like
- A nectarine is similar to a plum.
- A Stratocaster is like a Telecaster.
- alike (very similar but not the same)
- These two screwdrivers are alike.
- nothing like (very very different)
- A screwdriver is nothing like a plum.
'How do you like' is used to ask for : (1)opinion or (2)instruction
A: How do you like your job? (opinion)
B: It's boring(hard/fun/interesting).
A: How do you like your coffee? (instruction)
B: I like it black. (or I like it with cream and sugar.)
